Northumberland County's Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) is currently in the design, development, and approval phase with an expected completion date of late 2013.  The proposed facility covers multiple municipalities located in southern Northumberland County. (Coal Township, Zerbe Township, Mount Carmel Township, East Cameron Township, West Cameron Township, and City of Shamokin)

Northumberland County Board of Commissioners appointed a five member authority to manage the AOAA. At this time property usage is by pre-approval only.  You can submit a request to the authority by completing a property use request form and submitting it to the authority for consideration via e-mail or fax.  Authority meetings are held monthly at the Career Center in Shamokin, dates of which can be found on our calendar page.  Additionally several events are scheduled for 2013 and they can be found on the calendar page as well.

Currently, Northumberland County has adopted policies & ordinances, in addition to an Authority to govern the AOAA.

AOAA Authority Meetings

Notice: Tuesday, April 30th Public Meeting has been cancelled.

The Northumberland County AOAA Authority holds its public meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Career Center in Shamokin, Room 203. In July of 2013 the public meetings get switched to the 3rd Monday of the month. Work Sessions and any changes to the meeting schedule get updated on the calendar.    [view calendar] [view Minutes]
